Mathematics Philosophy
Every student deserves to experience mathematics as connected, creative and meaningful.
Mathematical difficulty is not always a lack of ability.
Language load, time pressure, anxiety, assessment systems and different learning needs can become barriers to success. Empowered Maths recognises and reduces those barriers, while preparing students for how mathematics is taught and measured.
Then we go further. Students explore, connect, reason, justify and apply their understanding so they can experience what mathematics can truly be.

Katrina Mardell

With 20 years in education and 12 years as a curriculum leader, Katrina has led whole-school mathematics improvement across two schools. She has taught, coached and mentored teachers, strengthened whole-school planning and developed mathematics frameworks that have improved teaching practice and student results.
Katrina created Empowered Maths to bring that same depth of expertise to students, families and educators, helping learners build strong foundations, communicate their understanding and become confident, empowered mathematical thinkers.
